The Pre-Construction Process Part 3

Hi guys! Jay again. Today, we’re looking at what to expect in a quote for a residential project.

Now to get to a point where a builder can provide an accurate costings for a project, the engineering plans and selections of specifications need to be completed, otherwise, we’re all guessing.

Being in the industry for a period of time, builders generally know what the standard is. But if it is a custom design, it really is just an educated estimate. To get the engineering completed is quite simple. We organise a soil test and then they get to work based on your design.

There will be a couple questions to and fro, but it’s fairly straightforward.

With the selections of specifications, on the other hand, it’s quite detailed and it has a lot of involvement and patience by yourself. To simplify this stage, we go back to the online portal that we’ve built around your design, follow the selections and preconstruction schedule, so we don’t miss anything.

In this, you can kind of scroll down room by room and see what the options are. Whether they are carpet, timber floors, polished concrete. It’s quite detailed and overwhelming for some, especially when you’re trying to make sure that the tiles you have chosen go with the kitchen bench top you’ve picked and so on. So we’ve partnered with interior designer to help with this stage and to simplify the process a little bit.

After all the visits to the tile showrooms, kitchen meetings, colour consults, you’ll start getting a pretty itchy feet to get this thing started so and rest assured, you’re well on your way.

With all this information, engineering reports, we put it all together for a fixed price quote for your project and see how this sits as far as your vision and budget for the project.

When all this is agreed upon, we pretty much sign it off and send it off to the certifier and yeah, and then we kind of go from there.

So, we’ll go into more detail on that in the next video. I’ll talk to you soon.
