Those who have missed the first video, I’m Jay from Lucky Lifestyle Homes.
Today, we are looking at the pre-construction process and where to start.
Although every project is different, the process is very similar and we’ve put a step-by-step guide on our website.
If we ever have the pleasure of meeting in person, we also have a more detailed brochure we can give you, which has estimates on each stage of the process.
Once we meet on-site to discuss your project, the next step is to get a concept plan drawn up to get your ideas onto paper.
This is where we can cut and paste your ideas and get exactly what you had in mind and discuss options, which may even be better than the original idea.
We have the option of using a designer or an architect at this stage, and it’s dependent on the needs and aspirations of the project.
We work with the designer or architect to ensure we stay on track as far as meeting
budgets as this is where it can really get out of hand. It’s a sad reality, but 80% of building projects don’t go ahead due to budget blowouts.
So, it’s important that we all work together and get the most design out of the budget available.
When you’re happy with the concept plan for the project, we can put it together in a building estimate for the project. It’s based on prior construction knowledge and allowances for selections and engineering.
It is important to remember that this is an estimate and not a quote. To get a fixed price quote, we need to complete the engineering selections and specifications.
I hope this has helped and I look forward to discussing more what’s involved in a building quote in our next video.
Take care and I’ll talk to you soon.
