Construction of a Home – Prelims

Narangba Project

Hey guys it’s Jay from luxury lifestyle homes.

This video is following on from the pre-construction process video series that we did. We thought we’d do one on the actual construction of a project we’ve just started.

We are at a house here at Narangba, just north of Brisbane.

This is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, it’s a fully customised house that has actually been architecturally designed  so there’s a lot of fun features in it, so come on in we’ll have a look around.

So we’re about three weeks into the build now and as you can see everything’s kind of underway.

What you’ll probably find is when the build first starts, temporary fencing will get set up with site signage.

For the initial trade works, you’ll find all your underground services which include:

– Water connections
– Sewer connections
– And gas if that is required

As you can see a lot of it’s been done here already and as well your footing systems for different styles of builds will get installed as well.

We’re standing down on the lower section down on this floor is actually going to be a polished concrete slab.

Up on the on the top floor is more a standard finish it’s just like a standard finished concrete with carpet over the top.

You’ll see a bit of a block work wall that’s been built that we’ve actually got drainage gravel waterproofing and termite protection.

This is to generally stop too much coming through moisture coming.

From this stage, once the slabs poured the frames will sit on top and below.

There’s a couple ways to get power to your property

Either overhead power which is if you’ve got power lines out the front or generally in the newer estates you’ll get it all underground. If Underground you need to go 600mm down with a deep trench through to the corner of the building.

This one here because it’s a raised slab system on the on the inside we actually come up through the blockwork so it’s all hidden and you can’t see anything.

There’ll be a power box on the outside but all this will be built in at the frame stage.

That pretty much sums up where we’re at with our Narangba project.

Next month we should have the slabs pored and a bit of framing started.

We look forward to sharing that with you when it happens.

Talk to you soon.

Jay.
