Construction of a Home – Bathrooms

Narangba Project

We’re in the main ensuite today and as you can see there’s a niche being built with all the plumbing pipes in it.

The plumbing and electrical rough in is completed as well as the insulation.  There will be a wall hung vanity, so all the plumbing and drainage will be hidden underneath.

There will be a double basin in this bathroom with water outlets and above will be a recessed mirror cabinet with handy power points behind the cabinetry doors.

Something to think about in the rough in stage is underfloor heating and heated towel rails.  The conduit and power cables are installed down the wall at this rough in stage, and when the heating flooring is laid later, it will be connected at the ground to this pre-prepared power source.  The same type of preparation will occur for the heated towel rails.

Further preparation is required in the bathrooms for the freestanding baths with the tap coming out of the ground.  The flick mixer will be on the wall to turn the water on and off, and the water will come from the freestanding tap adjacent to the bathtub.  These floor pipes are laid at the rough in stage for this reason.

Another thing that is done in all bathrooms is a step down.  Whether you are stepping into the bathroom from timber or concrete, we will always ensure the outside floor and tiled floor are the same height, so you don’t kick your toe when you walk into the bathroom.

In all the bathrooms in this home there are in-wall toilet systems. The system gets installed on the wall at rough in stage and tiling goes on around it.  The front panel is then cut back, and the buttons go on the front, with the toilet pan installed neatly on the wall.
